Duke City Gladiators News Release

Albuquerque, N.M. - The Duke City Gladiators are "Back In Black" for the 2017 season and the excitement is building in Albuquerque. This is the 3rd season for the Gladiators and the third year professional football is played in the "Duke City." The countdown is on and in 43 days, the first kick off of 2017 will be under way. Last year the Gladiators went 6-6 as the hopes for a playoff run was cut short in week 7 due to a season ending injury from star Quarterback Bryan Randall. Randall suffered a broken wrist in a game against Southern Conference opponent Texas Revolution. Duke City was in first place of the conference at the time Randall was injured. This year will be different as Head Coach Dominic Bramante states, "Last season was difficult with Bryan Randall going down. But now we're focused on 2017 and we have a high caliber line up that Albuquerque fans have never seen!" A press conference is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday January 17th at Sinners 'N Saints Bar and Grill. Major announcements to take place at the press conference include the release of the 2017 home schedule, new additions to the coaching staff, special game nights, final open tryouts, offer letters to high profile athletes, media deals and the announcement and signing of players. On February 25th, the Duke City Gladiators will take the field in an exhibition matchup to get the season underway. The evening will be donned "First Responders Appreciation Night" where those who have dedicated their lives to Fire, Rescue, 911, EMS, and Law Enforcement will be honored. In conjunction with the evening, the special pre- season exhibition will be known as the "Duke City First Responders Championship Bowl" where the Gladiators will "take on" the New Mexico First Responders team which will be made up of active duty police and firefighters. New additions to the coaching staff include Offensive Coordinator Meadow Lemon. Lemon is the son of the late great Harlem Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon. Details on an offer letter to former Dallas Cowboys great Terrell Owens will be announced at the press conference along with an ownership offer to 3X Super Bowl Champion Jay Novacek.
