Mississauga Power News Release
(OSHAWA, ON) Durham's team is pleased to announce they have re-signed six- foot-seven, 215 lb forward Chad Gillaspy. The former Evangel University product was selected by the Oshawa Power during the 2012 National Basketball League of Canada draft with the fourth overall pick. Gillaspy played as a member of the opening night roster and proved to be a solid contributor by scoring 11 points and pulling down 3 rebounds in only 20 minutes of work. However, with other offers on the table both sides agreed to terms of a release and Gillaspy was let go to pursue other options on November 8, 2012.
Gillaspy, an honorable mention NAIA All-American in his senior season in 2011, averaged 12.3 points and 8 rebounds per game in his final collegiate season. He left the program ranked 23rd all-time in scoring with 1,146 career points, fourth all-time in rebounds with 791 and seventh all-time in blocked shots with 53.
The Power organization feel Gillaspy can contribute positively to make Oshawa a winning team and are extremely excited to welcome their draft night selection back into the fold.
The athletic forward said, "I'm really excited about re-joining the Oshawa Power and I'm looking forward to helping the team any way I can. I certainly intend on having some fun by winning some games in the process."
Gillaspy will be in a Power uniform on Thursday night, December 27th when the visiting Windsor Express visits the GM Centre.
