Vancouver Giants News Release
Everett WA - Jamie Tucker turned aside all 30 shots he faced and posts a WHL Shutout in his first game as the Vancouver Giants blank the Everett Silvertips 4-0. Tucker was spectacular, yet composed as he made five or six phenomenal saves through the course of the game to frustrate Everett's attack.
The Giants contributed with three power play markers on the night as Neil Manning, Evander Kane and Mike Piluso each lit the lamp with the man advantage. Lance Bouma tallied the final goal of the game, an empty netter with over seven minutes to play as Everett was determined to light up their offense, but to no avail.
Craig Schira was fantastic on the blue line tonight as the Giants due to injuries and NHL training camps were only able to dress five defenders. The Three Stars in the building were:
1) Jamie Tucker 30 save and a shutout
2) Craig Schira - 2 assists
3) Neil Manning - 1 goal , 1 assist
Next up for the Giants will be a game against an old friend, as Craig Bonner's Kamloops Blazers will host the Giants in Kamloops on Wednesday night. Game time will be at 7 pm, with the pre game show at 6:30 on SUPERHITS 650 CISL.
