Vancouver Giants News Release
Portland, OR - David Tendeck made 36 saves, but the Vancouver Giants lost 3-0 to the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday night at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Tendeck was called into action early in the first period, making a beautiful glove stop on Cody Glass from close range. Glass went on to open the scoring for the Winterhawks on a power play a few minutes later when he wired a one-timer past Tendeck from the left wing after a pretty feed from Keegan Iverson.
Joachim Blichfeld made it 2-0 with less than two minutes remaining in the second period, and Ty Ronning almost put the G-Men on the board in the dying seconds of the period when he had a wide-open chance in front but hit the post.
Ryan Hughes added a goal on a rebound in the final frame.
The Winterhawks out shot the Giants 39-12. Vancouver was 0-for-4 on the power play while Portland went 1-for-8.
The Giants will be back in action on Friday, March 10th, when they'll head to the Okanagan to face the Kelowna Rockets. Puck drop is slated for 7:05pm.
Vancouver's next home game will be on Tuesday, March 14th, when the Victoria Royals visit the Langley Events Centre for Don Cherry Night! For tickets, click here or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
