Vancouver Giants News Release
Brendan Gallagher scored 4 goals, including his first WHL hat trick as the Giants scored 4 unanswered goals in the 3rd period to turn a 2-2 tie into a 6-2 win to sweep their weekend series in Prince George over the Cougars.
Kevin Connauton with his 3rd goal of the weekend, and Garry Nunn also scored for the Giants, who got solid goaltending from Jamie Tucker to win their 18th game of the season, and fourth straight over the Cougars.
The Giants top line of Gallagher, Craig Cunningham and Lance Bouma had 8 points on Saturday and combined for 13 points on the weekend.
The Giants will try for a season high fourth straight win when they play host to the Kootenay Ice on Wednesday night at the Pacific Coliseum. That will start a busy stretch for the Giants playing 4 games in 5 days.
The win for Coach Don Hay was the 250th behind the Giants bench, and 463rd in the WHL. He is now 3 wins back of fourth place all time in wins by a coach in Western Hockey League history.
