Laredo Lemurs News Release

Kansas City, KS - Laredo Lemurs utility pitcher comes up big, holding the Kansas City T-Bones to one run as the Lemurs take the first game of a three game set 8-1 at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas.

Giammanco's rookie season has been fun to watch as he goes on to pick up his first professional complete game win for the Laredo Lemurs. Giammanco threw nine complete, giving up one run, on four hits, he walked four, and struck out four.

Giammanco's only trouble came in the first inning with the leadoff hitter Justin Bass reaching on a single, he was driven in on a double by the next batter Brandon Jones to put the T-Bones up 1-0. That's all Giammanco would surrender on the night, as he retired the side in order four times, and induced four double plays. Giammanco did not give up a hit in his last five innings of work.

The Lemurs turned four doubles plays against the T-Bones. The T-Bones tied a league record by turning five double plays against the Lemurs.

The Lemurs offense was also part of the equation tonight as they posted two runs in the third, and six in the fourth. Stephen Douglas blasted a one out homerun with a runner at first to put the Lemurs up 2-1 after two and a half frames.

Jimmy Mojica topped off the big Lemurs fourth by hitting the first grand slam in Lemurs history over the right field wall. The Lemurs scored six run in the fourth to give them an 8-1 lead. Mojica, in his return to Kansas City, went two for four with a double, a grand slam homerun and four RBI's.

The Laredo Lemurs will be on this six game road trip that take them through Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Kansas City, Kansas. The Lemurs will be home for a six game home stand starting on August 21st. You can get tickets at the Laredo Lemurs box office, online at www.laredolemurs.com, or by phone at 956-7LEMURS. All games at Uni-Trade Stadium are set for 7:30pm.
