ASHEVILLE, N.C. - It is not a pretty situation the Carolina Ghostriders are in right now and owner Robert Boyd and coach Jim Terry are the first to admit it.

However, both Boyd and Terry are adamant that things are going to get better and they will do everything possible to make it work.

"We're going to try to make this right,'' said Terry, whose team hosts the Rome Renegades Friday night. "Wins and losses are not as important as putting on a clean production. We've painted the field, corrected all those problems, so the game system is fine. I've seen a lot worse fields in other leagues I've been in."

"We'll get through this week and after 16 days off, we'll be a lot better team, I promise you that," Terry added.

Despite being in the midst of a front office changeover and a criminal investigation launched against a former general manager, Boyd is determined to change the Ghostriders fortunes around.

"It will get better," Boyd said. "The Ghostriders will survive, whether I survive financially will depend on the support of the citizens of Asheville.

"I do not like being an easy target for the media and the nay-sayers," Boyd added. "If this hasn't gotten any better as the season progresses, than we deserve it. But I'm doing everything in my power to correct it. The city of Asheville deserves a quality sports team and I'm striving to give it one."
