March 10, 2006 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) News Release
RALEIGH, N.C. - David Malino threw for 217 yards and six touchdowns - three to Lavel Bailey -- as the Raleigh Rebels used a 27-0 second quarter to down the Chattahoochee Valley Vipers 53-44 in a battle of American Indoor Football League Southern Conference unbeatens Thursday night.
The Vipers (2-1) took an early 22-6 first quarter behind three Andrico Hines touchdowns. However, the Rebels took control with four unanswered touchdowns, including two Lavel Bailey scores and a 47-yard Kory Bailey interception return.
Despite losing Hines to an injury and replacing him at quarterback with receiver Terrance Samuels, the Vipers closed to within a score three times in the second half but could never take the lead.
Lavel Bailey finished with five catches for 143 yards, while Corey Peterson caught three passes for 36 yards and two scores for the Rebels, who improved to 3-0 despite six turnovers.
Graves had eight catches for 66 yards and two scores for the Vipers.
