Ghost Hounds End Home Schedule with Doubleheader Sweep

FREDERICK, MD - The Ghost Hounds final home games of the season ended with back-to-back wins over Lexington on Sunday.

After Andrew Moritz opened game one's scoring with an RBI double, Leobaldo Cabrera answered right back with a single to even the game up.

Raudy Read led off the bottom of the fourth inning with his 20th home run of the season to put the Ghost Hounds back in front, but Lexington again evened the game with a Zach Davis double in the fifth.

With two Counter Clock runners in scoring position in the sixth, Victor Capellan was able to strike out Osmy Gregorio to strand the runners. Max Povse kept the game tied with a scoreless seventh inning.

In the bottom half with one out, Craig Dedelow launched his 25th home run of the season to center field to give the Ghost Hounds the 3-2 win.

Game two started the same way game one ended, with a solo home run, this time by Eddy Diaz, to put the Ghost Hounds up 1-0. But that was far from the end of the Ghost Hounds power surge, as they opened the game with 5 straight solo home runs. Diaz, Dedelow, Jose Marmolejos, Kole Cottam, and Luke Becker all left the yard before Lexington recorded an out.

Cottam followed that up with his second home run of the game in the second inning, putting Spire City up 7-0.

The Counter Clocks scored four in the fourth inning, which chased Brendan Medoro from the game, but reliever Christian Lopez struck out the next two hitters to keep the Ghost Hounds up by three. Lopez would finish his outing with four strikeouts over 1.2 innings.

Thomas Dillard hit his second home run of the game to lead off the sixth inning against Jeff Johnson, but Dovydas Neverauskas retired all five batters he faced in order to lock down his eighth save, and preserve a 7-5 Ghost Hounds win.

Notes:

- With Craig Dedelow's walk off HR, the Ghost Hounds became the first team in ALPB history with four 25 HR hitters (Cabrera, Cottam, Marmolejos, and Dedelow)

- With Cottam's 30th HR, he and Leobaldo Cabrera became just the third duo of 30 home run hitters in ALPB history, and the first since 2008.

- In between games, Leobaldo Cabrera was awarded with the team's 2023 MVP award. Marmolejos, Cottam, and Dedelow were also all recognized as honorable mentions.
