Georgia Force News Release
MORNING PRACTICE: After having some rough times yesterday, the offense seemed to hit their stride in the first practice of the day. WR Derek Lee and newly acquired QB Chris Greisen started the day off with a 40-yard touchdown pass during one-on-one drills. The combination of Greisen and Lee hooked up two more times in the team portion of practice for scores. Rookie QB James MacPherson connected with rookie WR Brent Holmes for a touchdown late in the team period. MacPherson and Holmes were teammates last season with the Green Bay Blizzard of the af2. The secondary made catching passes difficult for the receivers most of the day. DB Rober' Freeman, DB Willie Gary and DB David Crocker found themselves in position to deliver big hits on several occasions. Offensive linemen Adam Metts, Shane Grice and Marcus Keys battled the front three of DL Ernest Allen, DL Jermaine Smith and DL Mike Sutton all morning long, with each group winning their fair share of contests.
AFTERNOON PRACTICE: Both the offense and defense played well in the second practice. The pass protection seemed to improve from the first three practices, but the pass rush was still evident. QB Ryan Vena found WR Jarrick Hillery and WR Carl Morris for touchdowns during team drills. Holmes continued to improve throughout the day as he registered six catches with two touchdowns in the afternoon session. DB Hamin Milligan put on a solid performance in the team portion of practice, as he broke up two passes and intercepted another.
"The quarterbacks are doing a good job of making the right reads and throwing the ball on time," stated offensive coordinator Steve Thonn. "The wide receivers are finding ways to get open and make plays. I am pleased with how the offense is progressing, but we still have a long way to go."
Thursday, February 15 and Friday, February 16, the Force will host combined workouts with the Nashville Kats at their Flowery Branch practice facility. Additional information pertaining to the workout will be released next week.
