Georgia Force Acquire DL Will Thompson

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA - The Georgia Force today traded FB/LB Kevin Aldridge to Cleveland in exchange for DL Will Thompson.

Thompson, 6-2, 261 pounds, joins the Force after spending his rookie campaign with the Las Vegas Gladiators, where he saw action in 14 contests with six starts. Thompson posted 29.5 tackles, two sacks, two passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, one blocked kick and a team-high five tackles for loss. He played his college ball at the University of Georgia, where he was a member of two SEC Championship teams (2002 and '05) and was a freshman on the team that won the 2002 Nokia Sugar Bowl. While at Georgia he started 37 games and collared 104 tackles, 14.5 sacks and 24.5 tackles for loss. Thompson is a graduate of Northside (Warner Robins, GA) High School.

Aldridge, 6-1, 285 pounds, is a four-year AFL veteran who has spent the previous three seasons as a member of the Force. In 2007, he was activated from Refused to Report list on June 27 and played in each of Georgia's two playoff games. Aldridge has recorded 208 rushing yards on 41 carries with 12 touchdowns on the ground in his career, in addition to tallying six receptions for 54 yards and one touchdown.
