Gens Get Even, Series Is Tied

Oshawa, Ontario - The Generals gave their series with Niagara a facelift on Wednesday night. They beat the IceDogs 5-3 before a raucous crowd of 2,929 at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. The home side scored 2 in the first before surrendering 2 in the second. With the game on the line in the final frame, the Generals responded, burying 3. Boone Jenner assisted on the go-ahead goal before netting the winner. Jenner, Lucas Lessio and Nicklas Jensen all had 3 point games, Lessio scored 2 on the night. Daniel Altshuller made 44 stops in his second of back-to-back playoff victories. Oshawa was also highly disciplined in the contest giving Niagara's top-ranked power play only 2 opportunities. With the win, Oshawa is now tied with Niagara 2-2 in their Eastern Conference Quarter Final.

The Generals wasted few bullets in the opening twenty; they scored on 2 of their first 3 shots. Lucas Lessio and Christian Thomas made it 2-0 Oshawa.

In the second period, the Generals had a chance to run away with it early. Instead, it was Niagara that netted 2, tying the game. Andrew Agozzino capitalized on the power play Steven Shipley tied it at 2.

In the third period, Lessio ignited the crowd with his second of the night and Jenner appeared to put the game on ice when he scored his 4th of the playoffs 7 minutes in. Down 4-2, the IceDogs gave the home side a scare when Steven Shipley potted his 2nd of the game and 5th of the playoffs at 15:52. Andy Andreoff removed all doubt as to the game's outcome, giving Oshawa the 5-3 cushion on a broken play at 17:45. Shots favoured Niagara 47-23.

Lucas Lessio and Daniel Altshuller were the first and second star selections.

Oshawa heads back to Niagara for Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Quarter Final this Saturday March 31st. Puck drops at 7:00 PM, and the game can be seen live on Rogers TV Durham.

The Generals return home to battle the IceDogs this Sunday April 1st at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. Game 6 goes at 6:05 PM. Come cheer on the Generals as they play their most important hockey of the year!
