Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs now face a best of three in their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal, after falling 5-3 in Oshawa Wednesday night, evening the series at two games a piece.

The first period saw the IceDogs concede the opening goal for the first in the series as Oshawa struck for the only two goals of the period, taking a 2-0 lead into the intermission. Shots in the period were 19-8 in favour of the IceDogs.

The IceDogs would battle back in the second, as Andrew Agozzino would get Niagara on the board with a powerplay goal to cut the Oshawa lead to 2-1. Steven Shipley would then tie things up shortly after as the puck trickled past Oshawa starter Daniel Altshuller and over the line to make it 2-2 after 40.

The third period would see Oshawa regain the lead, scoring twice in the first half of the period to make it 4-2. Shipley would continue his strong play, striking shorthanded for his second of the night to cut the deficit to 4-3. It was not meant to be however as the Generals would add one more to make it a 5-3 final. Final shots on the night were 47-23 in favour of the IceDogs.

The IceDogs will look to bounce back on Saturday night when they return to Niagara to host the Generals for game five of the series. Game time is 7pm and tickets are available at all IceDogs ticketing locations. Join us prior to the game for the pregame Fan Fest starting at 5pm!
