Geneva Rallies behind Jordan for second win of season
June 4, 2016 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Geneva Red Wings News Release
Alec Jordan pitched six strong innings and the Geneva Red Wings beat the Newark Pilots 6-4 at McDonough Park on Saturday night. Behind Jordan's masterful pitching was also a timely hitting display that came to the forefront several times throughout the night. With the bases loaded in both the second and fourth innings, the Red Wings scored a pair of runs off of Alex Gionis's RBI double and Jacob Lightle's RBI single to right center.
Adding two more runs off of an error and sacrifice fly in the seventh, the Red Wings took a 6-4 lead and turned to Joe Kwasniewski in the eighth to pick up a six out save. Kwasniewski did just that, returing all six batters he faced while picking up his first save of the season.
Geneva improved to 2-1 on the season, and hits the road tomorrow against Elmira before heading to Utica on Monday for an 11 A.M. first pitch. The Red Wings will return home to McDonough Park on Tuesday night at 7:05 when they take on the jamestown Jammers.
