
Generals' Win Streak Comes to an End with 7-5 Loss to Bombers

The Victoria Generals' 12-game win streak was snapped by the Brazos Valley Bombers with a 7-5 loss at Edible Field in Bryan. Victoria, falling to 22-11, managed just one hit in the loss but took advantage of six walks and two errors.
UTSA RHP Zach Royse started on the mound and held Brazos Valley to one run in five innings on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Blinn College RHP Blane Zeplin gave up two runs on two hits and a walk with a punchout in one inning before Murray State College LHP Ryan Dugas surrendered three runs on three hits in 0.1 frames. Dugas was credited with the loss as UTSA RHP Cole Brady allowed one run on a hit and three walks with a strikeout in 1.2 innings.
Texas State RF Xavier Perez picked up the only hit of the ballgame for the Generals while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi C Jared Harris was the only batter credited with a run batted in. Harris, McNeese State 2B Easton Dowell and Southeastern CF Cristopher Munoz each stole two bases as Victoria stole eight total bags. The Generals struck out 15 times in the loss.
Victoria scored the game's first run in the top of the fourth inning as Munoz scored on an error following a walk and stealing second and third. Brazos Valley's equalizing run came in the sixth inning. The Generals responded with three runs in the seventh, all coming via a trio of throwing errors.
The Bombers rattled off six runs in the bottom of the frame with six hits and two walks to grab a 7-4 lead. Victoria loaded the bases with one out in the eighth inning but scored just one run with the help of a balk.
The Generals now hit the road to take on the Seguin River Monsters on Thursday, July 13. First pitch from Smokey Joe Williams Field is at 7:05 p.m.
