LAST GAME: Biloxi, Miss. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, got a critical contribution from Drew Ellis on Sunday, beating the Biloxi Shuckers 3-1 at MGM Park with a ninth-inning go-ahead blast from their All-Star third baseman. The Generals (58-46) evened the series at one game apiece after a walk-off home run by Biloxi (64-42) ended Saturday's game in a similar fashion.

TODAY'S PITCHING MATCHUP: After consecutive gems delivered by teammates Cole Stapler and Matt Peacock, it's time for Emilio Vargas to show what he can do. Last time he pitched at MGM Park, he tossed five innings with one run allowed to Biloxi in the title-clinching game of the 2018 Southern League Championship Series last September. Vargas is in dire need of a quality outing, as he has allowed multiple runs in seven of his last nine outings while completing six innings only once (including a trio of starts in the rookie-class Arizona League). Biloxi's Drew Rasmussen has only faced Jackson this year as a reliever, and it went poorly, as he conceded 2 earned runs in two-thirds of an inning on June 14. He has not completed five innings in any of his 15 outings this year, though five of his last 6 appearances have been scoreless efforts, and each has lasted more than one inning.

ALL-STAR 2020: On July 29, the Generals announced that they would play host to the 2020 Southern League All-Star Game at The Ballpark at Jackson, their first All-Star Game since 2011.
