LAST GAME: Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, fell short in their series-opening game against Montgomery on Sunday, allowing the Biscuits to rally for a 6-3 win at The Ballpark at Jackson. The Generals (43-38) were bitten by a pair of multi-run innings engineered by Montgomery (50-31), who improved to 2-4 against Jackson this season. Full Recap: JacksonGeneralsBaseball.com

TODAY'S PITCHING MATCHUP: After going 3-6 with a 3.36 ERA at High-A Visalia in the season's first three months, Cole Stapler makes his Jackson debut on Monday night. The Louisiana native was a 22nd-round draft pick by the Diamondbacks in 2017, and he walked just 6 batters in 75 innings in the California League this year. He squares off with right-hander Riley O'Brien, whom the Generals tagged for four runs in a Jackson triumph back in May. O'Brien will throw after a yet-to-be-announced "opener," a tactic employed by the Tampa Bay Rays organization to increase length and effectiveness among their pitching staff.

A ROTATION THAT'S NOT: Jackson has maintained an unusual streak with their pitching rotation. Since the final series in April against Pensacola, the Generals' five-man starting rotation has not been consistent in back-to-back series, a span of 12 series without the same five guys facing consecutive opponents in the same order.
