KALAMAZOO, MI - The Flint Generals surrendered three third period goals that broke open a close 3-1 and fell to the Kalamazoo Wings 6-1 on Friday night at Wings Stadium.

It was the Generals third straight loss in a row and dropped their record to 4-8-1-0. The Wings won just their third game of the season and notched their sixth point.

The difference in the game was the first 40 minutes that was dominated by the specialty teams with a total 18 power plays. Lucas Drake had a hattrick for Kalamazoo and goaltender Jason Tapp turned aside 25 of 26 shots he faced.

The Generals will try to salvage something out of the weekend when they return home to face Port Huron on Saturday night. It was a first period dominated by penalties and power plays as there were a grand total of nine man advantages through the first 20 minutes. Kalamazoo scored twice via the power play including a 5 on 3 and led 2-0 to mark the return of forward Tyler Willis. The parade to the penalty box continued in the second for both teams and it was Flint that tallied with a man up when Josef Fojtik scored his fourth of the year on a nice wrist shot. Martin Ondrej and Greg Bullock notched assists on the goal. However, less than a minute later the Wings would score even strength to restore a two goal advantage at 3-1 The Flint Generals return to action tomorrow (Saturday) night at 7:30 pm at Perani Arena and Event Center when they host the Port Huron Icehawks. Tickets are available at the Ticketmaster Box Office or by phone at 744-0580 or online at www.flintgenerals.com.
