
Generals Come up Short against the Bombers

The Generals were back home at Riverside tonight after previously hosting the 2022 TCL All-Star Game on Sunday. They took on the Brazos Valley Bombers on First Responders Night presented by Detar Healthcare System. The Generals were looking to get a win to starts off the two game series at home against the Bombers.
The Bombers made their way down to Victoria looking to get a dominant win against the Generals to stay undefeated in the second half of TCL play. To start off the game, the Bombers got an early run, but the Generals responded shortly after in the bottom of the first with a run of their own off of an RBI from the Generals third baseman Adam Becker.
Despite the defensive effort from the Generals, the Bombers bats got hot in the top of the second as they extended their lead 4-1. The Bombers went down in order in the top of the third and the Generals decreased the Bombers lead in the bottom of the third as Brandon Galindo, the center fielder for the Generals, hit an RBI double which made the score 4-2. The Generals defense was holding strong as in the top of the fourth, the Generals ended the inning with a double play started by the second baseman Sean Curtis.
Going into the top of the fifth, the Generals defense was doing everything they could to get the stops and get back in the ball game. Curtis led another double play to end the inning and morale was up as the Generals looked to take back control of the ball game. The Bombers did manage to score another run to extend their lead 5-2 in the top of the sixth.
Going into the final innings of the game, both teams reamined scoreless until the top of the eight where the Bombers added more runs to their lead to make the score 7-2. The Generals could not add anymore runs to their score after the third inning. The Generals ended up falling short to the Bombers with a final score of 7-2.
The Generals will be back in action for game two against the Bombers on Thursday Night at Riverside Stadium. Thursday's game is Purple Out the Park Jersey Auction for Alzheimer's presented by Edward Jones. The jersey auction will take place before the game at 6:30 p.m. with all proceeds going to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. First pitch will be thrown at 7:05 p.m.
