Flint Generals News Release
FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals know who their first round opponent will be in the 2008 Turner Cup Playoffs but it's still undecided as to where the series may start.
The Port Huron Icehawks lead the Generals by four points for second place in the International Hockey League standings. The Icehawks need just one win to secure second and home-ice advantage. Should the Generals win their final three remaining games and the Icehawks drop both, then Flint would take over second place.
The Generals and the Icehawks today released the best of seven playoff schedule scenario should the standings in the IHL remain current with Port Huron in second place.
The first two games of the series would be held next Friday, Apr. 18 and Saturday, Apr. 19 at McMorran Place in Port Huron beginning at 7:30 pm. Games three and four of the series would be held back in Flint at Perani Arena and Event Center on Monday, Apr. 21 and Wednesday, Apr. 23 at with the face-off at 7 pm.
If a fifth game of the series is necessary then it would be held in Port Huron on Friday, Apr. 25 at 7:30 pm at McMorran Place Arena. A sixth game in the series would be held on Saturday, Apr. 26 at Perani Arena and Event Center at 7:30 pm. Should the Flint Generals and the Port Huron Icehawks need a seventh and deciding game, then it would be held in Port Huron on Sunday, Apr. 27 at 6 pm.
The Generals also announced today their new playoff slogan - âFlint Generals Hockey, Our Town, Our Team, Our Trophy.' This slogan will be used on all playoff media releases, in advertising and printed materials. It depicts a personal and a possessive approach the Generals are taking to the post season and the championship trophy and the special meaning it has for them.
