Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, Mich. - The Port Huron Icehawks are gearing up for a meeting with in-state rival the Flint Generals in the first round of the International Hockey League Turner Cup playoffs.
The Icehawks clinched a playoff spot last week, while the Generals clinched last night with a win over Kalamazoo. The only thing yet to be determined is which team will hold home ice advantage in the best of seven series. The Icehawks need just one point to guarantee second place and home ice advantage in the first round. They can clinch second with a win, overtime loss or shootout loss in either of their two remaining regular season games or a Flint loss in any of the Generals three remaining games.
The seven-game series will begin next weekend. The complete schedule is as follows. All dates are subject to change:
Game 1: Friday, April 18, 7:30 p.m., Home
Game 2: Saturday, April 19, 7:30 p.m., Home
Game 3: Monday, April 21, 7 p.m., Away
Game 4: Wednesday, April 23, 7 p.m., Away
Game 5 (If Necessary): Friday, April 25, 7:30 p.m., Home
Game 6 (If Necessary): Saturday, April 26, 7:30 p.m., Away
Game 7 (If Necessary): Sunday, April 27, 6 p.m., Home
The Icehawks will wrap up the regular season this weekend with a home and home series with Kalamazoo. They host the K-Wings on Friday and will travel to Kalamazoo on Saturday for the final game of the regular season.
Flint, meanwhile, will host the first place and regular season champion Fort Wayne Komets on Friday and Saturday, then travel to Fort Wayne on Sunday to wrap up the season.
