Gems out Hit Bend But Fall 7-3 in Series Opener

Bend, OR: July 2, 2013 The Bend Elks took advantage of four Gems errors and made the most of their seven hits in a series opening 7-3 over Klamath Falls at Vince Genna Stadium in Bend, OR on Tuesday night. Nick Fisher (Linfield College) had three hits and along with Dempsey Grover (University of California Santa Barbara) provided the RBI's for the Gems, who fall to 12-11 on the season. Bend improves to 16-9 and remains in 1st in the South Division

Clay Gartner remained perfect on the season at 4-0 as the Elks starter went six innings. Brandon Horth lost his first game of the year, falling to 3-1 for the Gems.

The next Gems home game will be Thursday, July 4th as the Gems host the Bend Elks at Kiger Stadium with the first pitch at 6:35 pm.
