Gems Daze Knights on Late Run in 12th Inning Win 3-2

Corvallis, OR: Austin Brand (Seattle University) doubled in the tying run in the seventh inning, and Cole Trezek's RBI single in the top of the 12th scored Chet Thompson from third as the Gems defeated the Corvallis Knights in extra innings at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field in Corvallis, OR Friday night. Gems benefitted from timely hitting and strong pitching as reliever Parker Sherrell (Lane Community College) came on in the 11th inning and picked up the win, improving to 2-0.
Skye Adams (Central Washington University) gave up only two earned runs on two hits in his third start for the Gems. Dylan Hecht (University of California Santa Barbara) took the loss in relief for Corvallis, falling to 0-1 on the year. Gems and Knights play tomorrow night in the second game of the three game series.
The next Gems home game will be Monday, June 24th as the Gems host the Cowlitz Black Bears; with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. Monday's promotion is Kids Get in Free (sponsored by Kla-Mo-Ya Casino). Each Monday night game during the 2013 Gems season will be Kids Night.
