
Gems cruise to 11-3 victory over Elks

The Bend Elks and Klamath Falls looked like they were in for a close game until the bottom of the 4th inning, where the Gems bats came alive. Klamath scored 4 runs in the 4th, 3 in the 6th, and 3 in the 7th on way to an 11-3 victory.
Michael Dingilian, making his first start for the Elks in 2012 West Coast League Play, struggled in the game. He took the loss, lasting just 3 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, walking 4 without recording a strikeout. The Elks used 4 pitchers In the ballgame, with the biggest bright spot being Kevin Hamann, the Bend, Oregon native, pitched a scoreless 8th inning, giving up 2 hits and striking out 3 in relief.
Offesnively for the Bend Elks, Will Sparks had a solo Home Run, Grant Newton went 2-3 with a run, Shawn O'Brien had 2 hits, and Darian Ramage had an RBI triple for the Elks, who dropped their 2nd game in 3 days to the Klamath Falls Gems, who now have the upper-hand for the WCL West Division's final playoff berth, with the Corvallis Knights clinching a birth on Saturday night.
