
Gelinas Takes Over Scorpions Helm

[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-Scorpions owner Dave Ellett announced Gary Gelinas has been hired by the New Mexico Scorpions as President and General Manager. Gelinas' first official day on the job was Tuesday.
"Gary is going to help lead the organization into a new exciting era," said Ellett. "We have a great product to show people and know that Gary and the staff will make the Scorpions product even better this coming season."
Gary Gelinas is also President of Vision Sports Group, LLP (VSP). He has been involved as an owner operator/governor in the British Columbia Hockey League since 2003. Joining the partnership in Langley in the summer of 2005 began the process of relocating the franchise to Westside in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. He will remain in his position with VSP, but will dedicate the majority of his time to leading the Scorpions to become the best franchise in minor league sports.
"I am excited for the opportunity the ownership has given me," said Gelinas. "I think with the great new building we play in, the growing marketplace we can make the Scorpions one of the model franchises n minor league sports."
Previously Gelinas owned and operated Nanoose Bays Sport, LP, the parent company of the Nanaimo Clippers Junior "A" Hockey Team, Nanaimo Timbermen SR "A" Lacrosse Club, Vancouver Island Hockey School, Vancouver and Island Venom Junior Clipper Spring Teams. Nanoose Bay was the largest sports and entertainment company in the North of Victoria British Columbia.
Gelinas has operated Sport-Pro Management Group, a firm that has been involved in contract negotiations, consulting, advisor roles and managing investments. Vision Sports Group, LLP, is located in Kelowna B.C., Canada, VSG LLP, owns, operates and manages sports teams, while providing consulting services to teams and leagues, and sport enterprises. In addition, VSG sells a variety of unique products that assist teams and leagues in revenue generation and expense and time reduction.
