Geison Named Offensive Player of the Month

(Independence, MO) Missouri Comets forward Geison is the Major Indoor Soccer League's Offensive Player of the Month for January, the league office announced Wednesday. The four-year MISL veteran is having a breakout season, leading the league in scoring with 69 points on the season, 14 points more than second-place Mauricio Salles of the Rochester Lancers.

A native of Sao Caetano, Brazil, Geison's previous career high for points in a season was last year's 33 for the Comets. Geison scored in all five Comets games in January, tallying 21 points for the month. He led the team with four goals in the Comets record-setting 33-12 win over Syracuse on January 25. Geison has been the league's leading scorer since exploding for 10 points on five goals in the season opener against Wichita.

The Comets next take the field Friday, February 10 at 7:35 p.m., hosting the Baltimore Blast at the Independence Events Center in the 2nd Annual Pink Game. Comets players will be wearing pink jerseys to in honor of the Ali Kemp Educational Foundation. The jerseys will be auctioned off immediately following the game with a portion of the proceeds benefitting this important cause.
