Spokane Shock News Release

SPOKANE, WA (October 3, 2013) - The Spokane Shock continue their 2014 off-season assignment process with the return of defensive lineman Jeremy Geathers.

Geathers, a product of the University of Nevada - Las Vegas Rebels, will enter his fifth season as a member of the Arena Football League and fourth on the Spokane Shock roster. As a member of the Shock during his rookie season in 2010, Geathers received 2010 ArenaBowl Defensive Player of the Game honors as he recorded four tackles, one sack and one forced fumble while helping Spokane clinch their first ArenaBowl championship in their first season as a member of the AFL.

Geathers spent the 2011 season with the AFL's Chicago Rush but would rejoin the Shock for partial seasons in 2012 and 2013. Over the course of his AFL career, Jeremy has tallied 37.5 total tackles (30 solo, 15 assisted), 11 sacks, one pass break up and three forced fumbles. During his time in the AFL, Geathers has spent time with the CFL's BC Lions and Toronto Argonauts.

Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden is excited about the opportunity to have Geathers on the roster for the beginning of the 2014 AFL season, "Jeremy is a great talent which you can not only see on tape, but also by the continuous opportunities he has received in the CFL, year in and year out. The fact that we are going to be able to get him with the team early in the season this year will be huge for our defensive line and pass rush."

Geathers will return to the Shock in 2014 alongside fellow returning defensive lineman James Ruffin, Terrance Taylor, Marc Schiechl, Diyral Briggs and Terence Moore at the jack linebacker.

Spokane has had a tremendous off-season with players returning for the roster while looking forward to the upcoming season, including Jeremy Geathers. "I'm excited to be back with the Shock organization, fans, and teammates. I feel like this team is one of the closest groups of guys I've been around and I'm looking forward to taking the field with them again in 2014."
