Sioux Falls Storm News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm (9-1) take on Spokane Empire (8-1) this Saturday night for a 7:05 PM kickoff. Both teams boast the first place spot in their respective conferences. Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital and Orthopedic Institute will present the game.
This game will serve as a fundraiser designed around the theme Sack Cancer benefiting a non-profit organization known as SURVIVEiT that provides anyone affected by cancer with immediate access to the combined knowledge and experience of a global community of doctors, cancer survivors, and allies. Matt Ellefson, a Sioux Falls businessman and six-time survivor of Lung Cancer, created and founded SURVIVEiT.
The Storm defeated the Wichita Falls Nighthawks, 66-58 in a nail-biting game on May 6th at Kay Yeager Coliseum in Texas. The Storm had a rough first half but was able to rally and take the lead in the early minutes of the second half.
For the Empire, the team is looking to continue a six-game win streak after a 75-28 victory against the Billings Wolves on May 7th. In that game, quarterback Charles Dowdell finished with 169 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Trevor Kennedy rushed for 85 yards and scored four touchdowns. Wide receiver Jefferson Hayes caught seven passes for 97 yards and scored one touchdown. Linebacker Pasquale Vacchio had a total of eleven tackles.
Tickets are still available to see the IFL's top two teams in action. Pick up your tickets at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Box Office or at ticketmaster.com.
