Syracuse Silver Knights News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The fourth-place Syracuse Silver Knights (7-4) will finish their weekend set on Sunday, when they will take on the defending MISL Champions and league leaders, the Baltimore Blast (8-2), 1:00pm at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena.
The matinee will also feature the Knights' third annual Dave and Buster's Media Halftime Game, including Geoff Herbert from Syracuse Media Group, Wayne Mahar from CNY Central, Dave Coombs from Gomez and Dave in the Morning and more.
Sunday's match is the second game of a busy eight day stretch for the Orange, Silver and Black. The Syracuse Silver Knights began their string with a 16-14 road loss to the Rochester Lancers last Friday. The Syracuse club will continue with a return fixture against the Maryland side on January 24 and a home game against the Pennsylvania Roar on January 25.
The Blast and Knights will be meeting for the first of four season fixtures on Sunday. Historically, Baltimore has thrashed Syracuse, posting an 8-2 record against the Empire State club. The seven-time indoor soccer champions have an undefeated 5-0 mark at the War Memorial, outscoring the hosts 84-56.
Syracuse FW Machel Millwood has a connection with Baltimore. The Jamaican began his indoor soccer career with the Blast in 2004, appearing in 182 games for 174 goals and 113 assists in nine years with the club. Millwood earned four MISL Championships in his stint with Baltimore.
Additionally, Blast FW Adauto Neto is familiar with Central New York. The Brazilian played for the Syracuse Salty Dogs in the A-League during the 2003 season. Neto made 19 appearances and tallied one goal.
Baltimore has enjoyed a successful first half of its MISL campaign, owning a league-best 8-2 record. Coach Danny Kelly's squad has relied on their defense, giving up just 43 total-points so far. Last time out, the Maryland side defeated the St. Louis Ambush 14-2 on Friday at Baltimore Arena.
