Game Preview: Syracuse Silver Knights Host First Place Milwaukee Wave

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights (9-6) will close their three-game home stand against the MISL leaders, the Milwaukee Wave (11-2) at 7:30 p.m. at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena. The team invites all fans to come out to the game, support the team, cheer and become the "7th man", as they strive to earn their first playoff berth.

The meeting will also feature a pre-game March to the Match. Fans & Supporters will meet at the Clinton Street Pub at 127 W. Fayette Street for some pre game drinks (5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m.) with 40 Below, Believe in Syracuse, The Silver Knight Foundation and the Salt City Supporters. The March to Match will leave at 7:00 p.m. to the War Memorial.

Friday's match will be the last of the Knights' three game home stand, which saw the hosts split the first two fixtures. Syracuse beat Pennsylvania 24-13 to open the stretch on January 25, but lost the last time out against Baltimore 12-10 on January 31. The Orange, Silver and Black went 3-3 in January.

Last week, Syracuse's Slavisa Ubiparipovic has earned MISL Team of the Week after recording three assists for the Silver Knights in last Friday's home loss to Baltimore. Ubiparipovic is now 9th in the MISL in points with 31 (12 goals, 7 assists).

Team mates Nelson Santana and Bryan O'Quinn were named Honorable Mention. Santana scored two goals in the contest while O'Quinn tallied 22 saves in the close loss. O'Quinn now has 225 saves on 287 shots against carrying a .784 saves %. Santana still leads the MISL Defenders with 32 total points (11 goals, 8 assists).

The Wave doubled up the Knights 20-10 in their first meeting in Wisconsin on December 31, 2013, earning a pair of hat-tricks from FW's Carlos Munoz and Ian Bennett. The meeting featured a 12-0 Milwaukee run in the second half.

The Wave has been the class of the MISL so far, owning a league-best 11-2 record. Coach Keith Tozer's squad has one of the most lethal attacks in indoor soccer. Munoz leads the team with 44 total-points while Bennett is two points off that mark with 42. Last time out, the Wisconsin side defeated the St. Louis Ambush 19-12 on Saturday at the Family Arena.

Friday's match will be broadcast live on YouTube on the Knights' official page. Syracuse's coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST with commentary by John Paul Chunga and Mike Kirmse. The game will be available shortly after its completion as on-demand content.

The Silver Knights will travel go on a two-game road trip after Friday's game, starting the final fixture of this season's Thruway Rivalry on February 15 against the Rochester Lancers. Syracuse will return home against the Pennsylvania Roar on February 23 at 4:00 p.m..
