Game Day Review for September 13th, 2003 - Final Score AZ 19 - LB 25
This "Best of the West" game featured the last 2 undefeated teams in the American-West Conference, in what would ultimately be the end to the Caliente's winning streak. The Arizona Caliente (5-1) fell just yards short as time expired, and broke their undefeated record, against the Long Beach Aftershock (6-0). On any given game day, there must be a winning team and a losing team, but when asked about the game, Caliente Head Coach Gerry Turley commented "Yes, they (Long Beach) are a strong team, but we definitely had our missed opportunities and made some mistakes that we won't make next time against them." The Aftershock's game winning score came as they recovered a fumbled Caliente ball in their end zone for 6 points with :08 left in the 3rd quarter.
The rematch in the desert will be at the Caliente's home field September 27th at 7:00pm.
Offensive Player of the Game: #22 Amy Lewis Defensive Player of the Game: #65 Angie Darnell

Who To Watch
Running Back #28 Tiffany Latta! Latta is gaining yardage comparable to the best in the NFL. After the first 6 games, Latta has garnered an incredible 629 yards in 109 attempts scoring 34 points While the Caliente have always had a strong running attack led by their 2 All-Star running backs, #28 and #14 Angie Reyes, when Reyes was injured in the August 30th game against the San Diego SunFire, Latta seemingly became a solo act, and has not missed a beat. Reyes is currently undergoing physical therapy with the team's specialists from STI and is hopeful to return for the end of season games and playoffs.
