GAMBLERS DROP A PAIR TO THE STEEL
The Chicago Steel swept the Green Bay Gamblers last weekend in a home-and-home series between the two clubs. On Friday night, Steel goaltender Rob Madore made 30 saves and forward Mike Embach tallied a pair of third period goals to lead Chicago to a 3-1 win. The following evening, five different Chicago players scored goals and Richard Bachman made 44 saves to lead the Steel to a 5-4 win.
2005-06 SEASON VERSE OMAHA
Since moving into the Resch Center in the fall of 2002 the Green Bay Gamblers have had next to no success against the Omaha Lancers. In nine career games at the Resch Center, the Gamblers are 1-8-0 verse Omaha. The team's last win over Omaha at the Resch was during the 2003-04 season. Last year the Lancers won the season series winning four of the five games between the two clubs.

GAMBLERS NAME CAPTAINS
The Green Bay Gamblers on Thursday named defenseman Channing Boe team captain. Boe, 20 (7/13/86) was acquired from the Sioux Falls Stampede this past off-season. With the naming of Boe as team captain, it marks the fourth straight year in which a Minnesota native will wear the honorary "C" for the Gamblers. Boe is a naïve of Bemidji, Minnesota.
The Gamblers also named forwards Nick Tabisz and Sergio Somma assistant captains. Both Tabisz and Somma played last season with the Gamblers.
LaPOINT LEADS ALL
Gamblers rookie Derrick LaPoint leads all USHL defenseman in scoring. The Eau Claire native, who is also tops on the Gamblers in scoring, has eight points (2g & 6a) in five hockey games. LaPoint has registered at least one point in each of the Gamblers five games this season. LaPoint is committed to the University of North Dakota.

JONES GET THE CALL
Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced that the Coyotes have recalled former Green Bay Gamblers defenseman Matt Jones (99-01) from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Jones, 23, has registered 1 assist and 11 PIM in nine games with San Antonio this season. The 6-foot, 215-pound defenseman played 16 games with the Coyotes in his first professional campaign last season, recording 2 assists and 14 PIM.
The Coyotes selected Jones in the 3rd round (80th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
DEETH GARNERS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK HONORS
On Monday the CCHA named Notre Dame Irish forward Kevin Deeth (05-06), the conferences Freshman of the Week. Deeth (2-2-4, +2) contributed a goal, two assists and a +2 rating in Friday's 7-1 win by the Irish over the team ranked No. 1 in the national polls. The following evening, Deeth continued to stay hot, scoring a goal in Notre Dame's 6-1 win over Providence. On the season, Deeth ranks second on the Irish with seven points (3g & 4a) in seven games.
Notre Dame freshman forward Kevin Deeth ranks second on the Fighting Irish in scoring. In four games, Deeth has tallied four goals and three assists. This past weekend, the Gig Harbor, Washington native tallied two goals and added an assist to lead the Irish past nationally ranked Boston College 7-1. The following evening, Deeth scored his third on the weekend in Notre Dame's 6-1 win over Providence. For his efforts Deeth was named the CCHA Rookie of the Week.
