
Gamblers Earn Two Points on the Weekend

The Green Bay Gamblers earned two points in the standings with a shootout and overtime losses on the weekend. After a 2-1 shootout loss in Madison on Friday, the Gamblers played the final game in the historic Brown County Arena on Saturday, falling to the Waterloo Black Hawks 3-2. Green Bay sits in 5th place in the tightly contested USHL Eastern Division with a mark of 6-6-2.
Madison goaltender Joseph Lamoreaux made 38 saves and stopped all three Gambler shooters in the shootout to backstop the Capitols to a 2-1 win on Friday at the Capitol Ice Center. Green Bay took a 1-0 lead with 8 minutes and 22 seconds remaining in regulation when Austin Heidemann scored on the power play. Madison tied the game at the 17:03 mark. Capitols forward Calvin Pokorny scored the lone goal in the shootout. Gamblers goaltender Jake Begley made 27 saves.
Waterloo forward Ryan Drkulec scored a little over 2-minutes into overtime to lift the Black Hawks to a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday. Gamblers goaltender Evan Fear was outstanding turning aside 48 shots. Noah Prokop and Austin Heidemann each tallied goals for the Gamblers. Green Bay led going into the third period 2-1, but Black Hawks forward Emil Ohrvall tied the game at the 7:09 mark. Jared Moe got the win in net for Waterloo with a 26-save performance.
