
Galaxy part ways with coaching staff

CARSON, CA (Friday, June 9, 2006) - The Los Angeles Galaxy announced today that the club has relieved assistant coaches Billy McNicol, Steve Rammel and Gerhard Benthin of their duties, effective immediately. Galaxy head coach Frank Yallop will begin the process of evaluating candidates to fill out his coaching staff right away. The club will look to announce additions to the coaching staff as soon as possible.
McNicol joined the club as an assistant coach on February 1, 2005 and served on Steve Sampson's staff as the Galaxy won the 2005 MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup championships. A 1996 MLS All-Star with D.C. United, Rammel signed on with the Galaxy staff on December 16, 2005. Goalkeeper coach Benthin became a member of the Galaxy coaching staff prior to the start of the 2006 season.
The defending 2005 MLS Cup Champion Los Angeles Galaxy host midfielder Freddy Adu and the league-leading D.C. United at The Home Depot Center on Sunday, June 11 at 5:00 p.m. (PT). The match will be broadcast live on FSN West, CASH 1700 AM (English) and KMXE 830 AM (Spanish).
