
Galaxy Looking for Next Star at 2004 MLS SuperDraft

CARSON, CA (Tuesday, January 13, 2004) - The Los Angeles Galaxy will be one of the ten Major League Soccer teams participating in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft this Friday, January 16 at 7:00 a.m. (PT) in Charlotte, NC. The Galaxy will have eight total picks in the draft, including three in the first two rounds, beginning with the third selection in the first round. Their second round picks will be the 11th and 13th overall selections in the SuperDraft.
The Galaxy also control at least one selection in each the final four rounds of the draft, giving the club the 22nd, 33rd, 43rd, 53rd, and 57th overall picks. In addition to their own natural draft picks, the Galaxy acquired the 11th, 22nd and 57th overall selections.
"We are pleased with the opportunities our selections provide us," said Galaxy Vice President/General Manager Doug Hamilton. "They give us the chance to improve our club through the draft, or, should we choose to, leverage those picks within the league to make ourselves better."
The 11th pick was obtained from the Dallas Burn in a July 11, 2003 trade that sent Gavin Glinton and Ezra Hendrickson to the Burn in exchange for Paul Broome, Antonio Martinez and Ryan Suarez. The 22nd overall selection was acquired from the Columbus Crew in exchange for Alex Pineda Chacon on July 31, 2003 and the 57th overall selection from the Kansas City Wizards in a trade between the clubs draft day in 2003.

entire draft is available at www.MLSnet.com The Galaxy selected a total of seven players in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft, held in
Kansas City, Missouri. Los Angeles picked Guillermo Gonzalez (8th overall), Scot
Thompson (16th overall), Arturo Torres (19th overall) and Ricky Lewis (20th
overall), Hamid Mehreioskouei (40th overall), Jimmy Frazelle (50th overall) and Joe
Barton (60th overall). Gonzalez, Lewis and Torres all saw action for the Los Angeles
