G-Braves Fall to Tides, 10-2

The Norfolk Tides defeated the Gwinnett Braves 10-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Coolray Field. The Gwinnett pitching staff gave up 10 runs on 17 hits in the contest. As of press time, Gwinnett (42-45) remains in third place in the International League South but now sits 10 games behind Durham. Norfolk (41-47) is now 11.5 games behind the Bulls.

It Was Over When: After the G-Braves tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Gwinnett reliever Cory Gearrin gave up 6 runs in the top of the 7th inning. The G-Braves were not able to score another run.

Braves Beat:

On the Mound: Starter Jo-Jo Reyes struck out 8 in his 6 innings of work. Cory Gearrin (0-4) was credited with the loss, allowing 6 R/ER on 4 hits.

At the plate: Freddie Freeman's 26-game on-base streak and Diory Hernandez's 12-game hitting streak were snapped today. IL All-Star Barbaro Canizares went 2-for-4 and hit his 6th home run of the season.

The Opposition:

On the Mound: Starter Troy Patton (6-9) earned the win, allowing only 2 R/ER on 4 hits in 7 innings.

At the plate: Adam Donachie was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Robert Andino was 2-for-4 with 4 RBI and a run scored.

On Deck: Gwinnett hosts Charlotte in the first game of a four-game series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at Coolray Field. G-Braves RHP Todd Redmond (8-7, 3.92 ERA) is scheduled to face RHP Matt Zaleski (5-5, 3.61 ERA) of the Knights.
