G-Braves Fall Short to Lookouts 4-2

GREENVILLE, SC-Chattanooga beat Greenville 4-2 at Municipal Stadium Saturday Night. After an hour rain delay, strong pitching controlled the game for both ball clubs as Luke Hudson (W; 2-6) for the Lookouts pitched six innings allowing only one run and tallying five strikeouts. Zach Miner pitched seven innings for the G-Braves allowing two runs on three hits with six strikeouts in a losing effort.

After two scoreless innings, the Lookouts got on the board first in the top of the third as Andrew Beattie blasted a two-run homer off Miner (L; 3-7), giving the Lookouts a 2-0 lead after three innings.

In the bottom of the sixth, Kelly Johnson smoked a solo homerun with one out, cutting the lead down to one as Chattanooga led 2-1.

The Lookouts padded their lead in the top of the eighth on a two-out two run double by Jesse Gutierrez off reliever Alec Zumwalt, making it 4-1.

Brayan Pena doubled off Todd Coffey scoring Tony Pena with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Looking for a comeback and runners with second and third, G-Brave pinch hitter Aaron Herr struck out, then Adam Stern grounded out to short to end the game. Coffey finished the ninth inning recording his 10th save of the year.

Tomorrow Greenville hosts Chattanooga for the finale of a four game homestand at Municpal Stadium beginning at 5:15 p.m. Righthander Steve Kelly (5-3; 3.53) starts for Chattanooga facing righthander Brian Moehler (2-2; 4.23) from Greenville.

NOTES The promotions for Sunday's game are Family Fest sponsored by WESC-FM and Huntington Learning Center Honor Roll Night. Face Painting on Concourse...Napoleon Calzado's 11-game hit streak ended Saturday Night as he went 0 - for - 4.
