Ontario, Calif. - Ontario Fury goalkeeper Chris Toth has been named to the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Team of the Week for week 16 of the 2018-19 campaign. The 29-year-old received the honor for his standout play in the Fury's crucial win over hosts Tacoma Stars. With his side's playoff hopes on the line, Toth made a total of 14 saves as he kept the opposition to four goals through 60 minutes and overtime, followed by stops against the Stars' first two takers in the subsequent shootout. He also provided the assist on ex-U.S. National Team star Jermaine Jones' first ever goal and point in an Ontario uniform.
Southern California native Toth, who joined the Inland Empire club from the San Diego Sockers during the offseason, is joined on the Team of the Week by defenders Miguel Vaca (Monterrey) and Adriano dos Santos (Baltimore), midfielder-forward Moises Gonzalez (RGV), and forwards Ricardo Diegues (Florida) and Franck Tayou (Monterrey).
Given the recent boost to the Fury's postseason chances, Head Coach Jimmy Nordberg's men will look to put additional pressure on fellow contenders Tacoma when they return home for Jermaine Jones' home debut, a massive clash with the visiting El Paso Coyotes on Sunday, March 24.
