Moline, IL- The Muskegon Fury evened the best-of-seven quarterfinal series against the Mallards following their 6-3 victory at The MARK of the Quad Cities Friday night. The scene shifts back to Muskegon for Game Five tomorrow night at L.C. Walker Arena.
The Mallards took a 1-0 lead just 1:07 into the contest as Justin Brown fired a shot from the point past Fury netminder Sylvain Daigle. A.J. MacLean and Troy Smith earned the assists on Brown's goal. The Fury answered at the 3:45 mark of the opening frame on B.J. Gaustad's second goal of the playoffs. The Mallards regained the lead three minutes later on a power-play goal from Jamie Thompson. Patrick Nadeau and Greg Barber were credited with the assists on Thompson's goal.
With a 5-3 man advantage, Quad City made it a 3-1 game just four minutes into the second period on Patrick Nadeau's second post-season goal. The Fury would take control late in the second. Billy Collins scored his third post-season goal at the 13:14 mark of the middle frame. Three minutes later, Todd Robinson tied the game at three with his first playoff marker.
The Fury added three more goals in the third. Scott Hollis scored a power-play goal just 1:41 into the final period. Billy Collins added his second goal of the game at the 6:34 mark to make it 5-3. Hollis scored into an empty net with 1:51 remaining to cap the scoring at 6-3.
Both teams head back to Muskegon for Game Five tomorrow night. Game time is 6:30 p.m. central time.
