Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

Having achieved an all-time club record for best winning streak from the start of the season through their current 9(9-0-0) record, the two-time reigning Colonial Cup Champions of the United Hockey League, the first-place perfect Muskegon Fury continue to make a major impact and impression in the world of the pro hockey theatre. The UHL and minor pro hockey's top winning team is being noticed through the quality of its player person-nel and its status as perennial contenders and championship caliber on-ice product.

With an all-time UHL league record four Colonial Cup Championships captured over the course of the past six calen-dar years, the Fury organization is continuing to produce top-drawer player talent as a rich spawning ground for future pro stars.

The most recent evidence of Muskegon's royal and regal reputation has occurred this week with the summoning of left wing RYAN KELLER and defenseman JON INSANA to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. With their respective elevations to the Griffins, the Muskegon organization can now boast of some 13-current players that have seen some form of service in the prestigious AAA / AHL.

Keller, 21, is enjoying an extraordinary first pro season with the Fury, having climbed to third in the UHL in scoring with a per game average of 2-points a game on 9(8-10-18) with a stellar +9 rating. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native also leads all league rookies in point-productivity while accruing a 9-games' point-scoring streak.

Insana, 24, is a third-year pro who helped spark the Fury to Colonial Cup IV in 2004-05 by being the UHL's best post-season plus player at a brilliant +20 in 15-games. The former Michigan State standout was runner-up for the UHL Colonial Cup MVP award. During the regular season with the Fury, he led all team defensemen in goal-production with 9. Thus far this season with the two-time defending titlists, he is 6(0-4-4) with a solid +6 rating.

Keller and Insana join an impressive long list of Fury roster members who have achieved the opportunity to play at the next level. Included on this star-studded list are such names the stature of goaltenders CLAYTON POOL (Grand Rapids) and KEVIN LAPOINTE (Grand Rapids), with the latter also being an attendee of the NHL Detroit Red Wings training camp to launch the present campaign.

Also being summoned to the AHL Griffins have been defensemen BRET ANGEL, STEVE O'ROURKE, JOE POMARANSKI and CLAY WILSON. DAVE VAN DRUNEN (Omaha-AHL) and TREVOR JOHNSON (Binghamton-AHL) are also on the AHL list.

Among the forwards included on the AHL list are JEFF NELSON, BILLY COLLINS and DAVID WRIGLEY with the later three all having stints with the Grand Rapids Griffins as well.
