
Curtis Sanford helps Blues end 11 game skid

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- St. Louis Blues (NHL) goaltender Curtis Sanford earned a 2-0 shutout victory vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night. The win helped the Blues snap their club record 11-game winless streak. It was the second career NHL shutout for Sanford in just his tenth NHL appearance. He previously recorded a 2-0 shutout vs. the Minnesota Wild on March 1st, 2003. The 26-year-old Owen Sound, Ontario native was making his second consecutive start for the Blues as he stopped all 36 shots he faced, including 18 in the third period. The victory also spoiled the debut of Sergei Fedorov in Columbus. Fedorov was acquired in a trade with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Tuesday.
Sanford began his professional career with the Missouri River Otters during the 1999-2000 season. In six games with the Otters, he compiled a 3-1-0 record, a .946 save percentage, and a 1.52 goals against average.
