Fury Kick Aside Dallas to Keep Playoff Hopes on Track

February 13, 2016 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Ontario Fury News Release

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, scored the game's first five goals, then the first four of the second half as it kept its playoff hopes alive by beating the Dallas Sidekicks, 9-3, Saturday night before 3,712 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Team captain Tiguinho scored a hat trick in the first half, while Mauricio Salles and Juan Gonzalez each had a pair of goals as Ontario moved within a half game of the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division. Tino Nunez had three assists in the game, while Andy Reyes and Stephen Basso each scored for Ontario.

Ontario's defense shut down the Sidekicks, who were coming off an 8-6 loss the night before in Las Vegas, which eliminated Dallas from playoff contention. Dallas was held without a shot on goal in the first quarter, and only 12 for the game, with Ontario blocking 10 shots. Arthur Ivo got the Sidekicks on the board with just 16 seconds to go in the first half, converting a restart under the crossbar.

The Fury's win, combined with Tacoma's 15-10 loss in Sonora on Saturday, put the Fury a half-game behind the Stars in the race for the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division. Ontario has three games remaining, with Tacoma only having a pair of home games remaining. Ontario currently holds the tiebreaker against the Stars, having defeated Tacoma in their only meeting of the season. The two teams will close out the season against one another Feb. 26.

Sonora, which clinched the Pacific Division with Saturday's win, will make its only trip to Citizens Business Bank Arena on Feb. 21 for their third meeting of the season against the Fury. The game, which will kickoff at 3 p.m., will feature a post-game jersey auction benefiting National Community Core Renaissance, as well as be the final Fury player card giveaway night for the first 2,000 fans, sponsored by The Voice Marketing of Rancho Cucamonga.

Tickets for the final two Fury home games are on sale now at the Citizens Business Bank Arena box office and online at AXS.com. Season tickets for the 2016-17 season are on sale now, and all new season ticket members purchased during this early bird special will receive the rest of the 2015-16 season, as well as the Fury's first potential playoff game, 20 complimentary group tickets and an early bird gift as part of the package.
