Dallas Fury News Release

The Tennessee Fury opened up their home schedule tonight against the Birmingham Power. The Fury and the Power both entered tonight's game at 0-1 but it was Birmingham who improved their record to 1-1 with the 89-75 victory. Early on it looked as though things might stay close throughout. Both teams traded baskets in the early going but it was the Fury that came out at the half with a 40-36-halftime lead, a lead they would never see again. Curtis Oden, the Birmingham coach must have had some halftime speech, his team came out of the break and jumped all over the Fury. The Power dropped in 7 quick points to start the second session and never looked back. The Miller sisters, Coco and Kelly, lit up the Fury for a combined 43 points to lead Birmingham. Coco was 7-9 from the field in the game. She didn't miss a free throw, going 5-5 and was perfect from behind the arc hitting both her attempts.

"They seem to feed off each other. When one gets hot the other gets hot. They just had a great night tonight." Said Semeka Randall who was one of four Fury players in double figures with 15 points. Becky Hammon led the Fury with 24 points and seven assists.

"They just out hustled us. They got more loose balls and seemed to want it more then we did. We didn't play good team defense and we didn't capitalize on opportunities that we had," said coach Minggia after the game.

The Fury will need to get things back on track when Springfield comes to town on Sunday. Tip-Off for Sunday's game will be at 5 p.m. at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum and will be the third match up for the two teams this season.
