Fury gets back to work

After a long weekend the Tennessee Fury will get back at it this week in preparation for Thursday nights game against the Birmingham Power. The Fury is coming off a 97-87 loss at the hands of the Springfield Spirit last Thursday night and will be looking to get back on the right track. Birmingham travels to Houston to plays its first game of the season against the Stealth on Tuesday Night, before coming to Tennessee and then finishing up in Springfield.

Thursday’s game is the first of a four game home stand for the Fury. After Birmingham they will match up against the Spirit, for the third time in less than 2 weeks, and the Chicago Blaze. Both games will be played at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. The last game of the home stand will see the Fury against Sheryl Swoopes and former Lady Vol Michelle Snow of the Houston Stealth.

The Fury thus far has been lead by former Florida Gator Tonya Washington. She dropped in 32 points in a losing effort to Springfield last week, while also putting in 25 against the Spirit in the pre-season opener. The Fury also got contributions from former University of Georgia standout Keisha Brown and Former UT Lady Vol Semeka Randall, both scored 17 in the opener.

When asked about the progress of the team to this point, General Manager Ryan McCallum had this to say, “I’m very pleased with the high level of talent on this team. I think we will continue to improve and we will definitely be giving our fans a lot to cheer about this season. Mike Walker has brought in a great group of players along with a great coach.”

The Fury’s game against the Birmingham Power will take place Thursday Night February 13th at Maryville College. Game time is set for 7:30. Tickets are still available. You can purchase them by going to www.knoxvilletickets.com or by calling 865.656.4444.
