OTTAWA, ON - After sharing the points in a hard-fought battle against the New York Cosmos last Sunday at TD Place, Fury FC head out on the road this weekend visiting Rayo OKC at Miller Stadium for a Sunday night kick-off. Paul Dalglish's side will be looking to create more offensive fireworks against a red hot Rayo side.
Fury FC have been very active offensively in their last five games, firing 73 shots, sending 98 crosses in the box and scoring nine goals. Four of those nine goals have been scored by British midfielder Ryan Williams who has had a very hot foot lately.
The 5-foot-8 midfielder scored his fourth goal in five games last weekend against New York and earned his third NASL Team of the Week Selection. Williams says he feels very confident at the moment and hopes to carry on.
"When I first got here I needed a little bit of time to get fit and ready to play a full-game, and I am thankful to the manager and the club for easing me in," said Williams. " The last five or six games I've felt really good and when you feel good you have that extra confidence that allows you to contribute more and help the team."
Against Rayo OKC, Ottawa will be facing a very confident team, as Gerard Nus' squad is in the midst of a seven-game unbeaten streak and is making a late push for the final NASL postseason berth available. So Williams expects another hard-fought battle.
"It's going to be a tough game, no doubt about that," said Williams. "No game in the NASL is easy. Every team poses a different type of problem and we know that Rayo is a strong team and has quality players. We will be well-prepared and we will be going into the game with a lot of confidence looking for the win."
Following Sunday's match, Fury FC will wrap up their two-game road trip in Tampa Bay on October 22 before returning home to face the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Fan Appreciation Day on October 29 at 2 p.m. - for the final game of the NASL Regular Season.
