Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA - Since the launch of the Fury Fanatics Program, presented by the Brick, in 2015, soccer players from across the region have greatly benefited from having a professional team in their own backyard. Minor soccer players have not only been attending Fury FC matches but have had Fury players at their practices and in their communities helping grow the love for the game in the National Capital Region.
"There is nothing more inspiring as a Canadian who has played the game I love than looking up into the stands on a match day and see thousands of young players," said General Manager Julian de Guzman. "We are building the next generation of soccer in this country - players, coaches, administrators, referees, fans - we're building our fire; the passion for the game"
This season, Fury FC continues its investment in minor soccer while adding a component that will greatly benefit the minor soccer clubs in this region. Fury Fanatics tickets will cost $5 with $3 from each ticket going back to their respective club helping with investments in player development, coaching development, programming and equipment.
"Our goal is to engage youth soccer in our community with interactive experiences with the Fury," said Audra Sherman, Manager, FIT and Community. "I've been around youth soccer all my life and the two major factors of player development and funding are both being addressed by the Fury Fanatics Program."
Fury Fanatics will be heavily involved in the game day experience - from playing on the pitch pre-game and halftime to waving flags in the pre-game ceremony to serving as ball kids - providing an up-close experience of Ottawa's professional soccer team.
Through the partnership with almost 50 clubs in the region, Fury FC staff and players will also be involved at community practices and events bringing the minor soccer community closer to the professional game. In an effort to have more youth in the community playing the game, build their skillset and passion for the sport, Fury FC also run the FIT Program (Fury in Training), visit OttawaFuryFC.com for more details.
Be there for the Home Opener Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m. and help Fury FC battle North Carolina FC. To purchase a Fanatics ticket, players can visit FuryFanatics.com.
