July 27, 2016 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA, ON - Fury FC scored a crucial road win Saturday in Jacksonville snapping the winless streak and ending the goalless drought en route to a 2-0 win. While the full squad put forth a solid performance in the stifling Florida heat, a pair of Ottawa players were recognized for their roles in the victory as midfielder Bryan Olivera and defender Lance Rozeboom were named to the NASL Team of the Week, the League announced on Wednesday.
Olivera displayed his most impressive performance in Fury FC colours setting up both Ottawa goals against Jacksonville. The 5-foot-7 Uruguayan also showed plenty of creativity in the midfield which caused tons of problems for the opposition.
"Bryan has an unbelievable amount of creativity and he is a difference maker when he has the ball," said head coach Paul Dalglish. "He is a player that can turn possession into goals with his ability to play the final pass and we were very pleased with his performance on Saturday, both offensively and defensively."
Lance Rozeboom, who has proven to be an important piece of the puzzle for Fury FC this season, once again brought sound defending and accurate passing against Jacksonville completing 35 of his 37 passes.
" Lance is a coach's dream player," said Dalglish. "With everything that has happened this year he's been asked to play at various positions on the field and he always delivers high-quality performances. He is a true winner and a versatile player and that's why his teammates love him . Whenever we make the players pick teams in training, Lance is always their first choice and that speaks louder than anything else."
Fury FC return home tonight to face Drew Beckie and the Carolina RailHawks at 7:00 p.m. starting a stretch that will see them play six of their next eight games at home.
