
Fury and Citadel announce new radio deal

MUSKEGON, MI.--- The two-time reigning United Hockey League Colonial Cup Champions, the Muskegon Fury, the UHL's and all of minor pro hockey's all-time top winning team will have a new radio place to call home for all of their exciting game broadcasts while remaining at their former address for the popular daily update report.
Today, the Muskegon Fury and Citadel Broadcasting Company have announced the completion of a two-year contract deal that will make Muskegon's brand new WKLQ-FM 92.5 the new radio flagship home for all of the two-time reigning champions live play-by-play game broadcasts. Meanwhile, the very popular daily "Fury Hockey Update" report will remain on sister station WEFG-FM 97.5, "THE CHAMP."
For the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons, all games played by the defending Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup Champions, pre-season, regular season and playoff games, home and away, in their entirety, will be aired live with all of the play-by-play action on "MUSKEGON'S PURE ROCK, 92.5 âKLQ." As in past years, all game broadcasts will consist of a one-half hour Pre-Game Show as well as the "Fury Star of the Game Show," which will follow all home game originations and the Fury Post Game Show, the latter program after all Fury games.
With three Colonial Cup Championships in the last four seasons and four crowned coronations over the past six calendar years, the Fury's official debut on 92.5 âKLQ will be their pre-season premiere on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12TH when they play host to nearby division rivals, the Kalamazoo Wings in a 7:30 pm face-off with air- time set for 7:00 pm. It's the initial contest of three total dress rehearsals for the Fury pre-season slate. The first-ever regular season broadcast on Muskegon's new 92.5 âKLQ is on the docket for SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22ND, the opening night, coming-out party extravaganza for the league kingpins as they tangle with the Elmira Jackals, also at 7:30 pm with broadcast time scheduled for 7:00 pm.
The Fury Team Owner and Club President Tony Lisman lauded the new radio / marketing partnership with Citadel Broadcasting. Also included as a major part of this new Fury radio programming arrangement is the 11th consecutive year of the Fury daily report, "THE FURY HOCKEY UPDATE." This Fury popular program will be staying on WEFG-FM 97.5, "THE CHAMP," Muskegon's all-sports station. There will be a slight switch of time for this season's daily reports which will run Monday through Friday with the new time slot set for 6:00 pm during the exceedingly popular "Huge Show." The official return of "THE FURY HOCKEY UPDATE" will be MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH.
The "VOICE OF THE FURY," TERRY FICORELLI, the only two-time winner of the UHL Broadcaster of the Year Award, returns for his 11th season at the Muskegon "mike."
An announcement pertaining to the return, for the 11th consecutive year, of the ever-popular Monday night "Fury Hotline Show Presented by Pepsi," will be coming very soon.
