FRESNO, CA - Central Valley Fuego FC is excited to announce the signing of goalkeeper Paul Lewis for the remainder of the 2023 season. The addition of Lewis to our roster brings depth and experience to our squad, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our Central Valley soccer family.
Paul Lewis is no stranger to the world of professional soccer, having signed as a professional in 2020. He showcased his talent and dedication during the 2020 and 2021 seasons with Charleston Battery in the USL Championship. In 2021, Lewis's outstanding performances earned him a spot in the prestigious week 17 USL Team of the Week.
The goalkeeper continued to make waves in the soccer world as he joined the Michigan Stars for the 2022 season in the NISA, where he played a pivotal role in the team's triumph in the NISA Independent Cup and National Championship. His impressive skills between the posts were crucial in securing these significant achievements.
Lewis's journey to professional soccer started during his college years, where he honed his craft at LMU (Loyola Marymount University) and CSUN (California State University, Northridge). His collegiate experiences undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping him into the formidable goalkeeper he is today.
Originating from Bellevue, Washington, Paul Lewis understands the importance of community in soccer. When asked about joining Fuego FC, Lewis expressed his excitement, saying, "The Central Valley is a community with deep roots in soccer, and I am honored to represent this region alongside a fantastic group of teammates and coaches. Thank you to Mr. Ruelas, Adam Smith, the Fuego staff, PSC, and my family. I look forward to competing hard with this group over the remainder of the 2023 season."
Lewis's signing is a testament to Fuego FC's commitment to excellence and our determination to bring top-tier talent to our beloved community. We believe that his presence will undoubtedly bolster our team's performance and contribute to our continued success.
