Fuego Celebrates Kingsburg Unified Bilingual Learners Event
November 5, 2021 - United Soccer League One (USL1)
Central Valley Fuego FC News Release
On November 10th, the Kingsburg Elementary Charter School District and the Central Valley Fuego Fútbol Club are teaming up to celebrate Bilingual Children's Day. KECSD believes the ability to speak more than one language is something to celebrate. The District will also give special recognition to students who have met the criteria for reclassification and are recognized by the state as attaining proficiency in English. The Kingsburg Elementary Charter School District takes the reclassification of their English Learners very seriously. Being bilingual is a powerful asset for learning and for life. It is an honor to recognize these students and celebrate all of the district's English Learner students and their families. They have the capacity to serve as ambassadors to help bridge and bring cultures together, as well as the potential to be the leaders of tomorrow. Milton Blanco, a local soccer legend and former Fuego player, will serve as the evening's keynote speaker and joining the event will be the CA Department of Education Director of Multilingual Support, Alesha Ramirez, and City of Kingsburg Mayor, Laura North, as well as members of the school district community.
"The Kingsburg Elementary Charter School District is proud to partner with the Central Valley Fuego and celebrate the cultural and linguistic assets of our English Learner students and their families. KECSD and the Fuego recognize that exploring learning, and valuing family beliefs are important foundations. By working together, we are helping to create and maintain a culture that welcomes and joins with every family!"
